On Saturday I was invited along to The Bier Keller on Broad Street in Birmingham to a Reggae Brunch; 5 hours of reggae music, cocktails, a lovely 3 course meal and plenty of fun! The party started at 1pm wherer we were greated with unlimited rum punch for the first hour. The punch was really nice and like any good cocktail didn’t taste of alcohol just an amazing mix of fruit juices. From the moment you walked in to the event the music was playing and there was a real party atmosphere.
Just after 1pm the starter of the 3 course Caribbean food was served. There was a vegetable pattie, sweet potato and pumpkin fritter and salad. The pattie had a lovely spice to it and although the fritter was fried it wasn’t greasy at all.
The main was served an hour later and was the most delicious jerk chicken which was flavoured with the right amount of spices and kick of chilli, rice and peas with a dumpling and coleslaw and salad.
Again an hour later, after music, dancing and more partying the dessert of carrot cake with cream and raspberry collie was served. the sponge was slightly spiced and vert moist. The berry coolie complemented the cake perfectly.
The music was a mix of Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Reggaeton, Bishment, Afro Soul and Ska and was playing thought the whole event.
If you are a fan of Reggae music, good Caribbean food and love a rum punch then Raggae Brunch it the perfect afternooon for you; a date, birthday celebration or just good old fun time with your friends. Reggae Brunch hold events in Birmingham and London. You can found out more details here.
