to my little cooking and baking space on the web. My name is Candace and I’m a single working mother of a teen and a tween living the good life in the West Midlands. As well as my two children I also have 4 cats, a rabbit and 8 chickens. We love our chickens very much and 4 of them are ex-commercial hens living out their retirement with us. Their eggs regularly feature in my cooking.
As if I didn’t have enough to do already in life I decided it would be a good idea to set up this food blog. I have been blogging for nearly 6 years now and my family blog was becoming a mismatch of things and in order to streamline things, I set up this blog for all our recipes, food reviews, money & time-saving tips.
Here you will find a selection of the type of home cooked food we love. We don’t eat ready meals and most days you will find me cooked a hearty meal for my family but on occasions, I take out a pre-home cooked meal from the freezer from times of batch cooking. I really do love the ease of batch cooking and having easy meals available in the freezer for those days when I don’t have time to cook from scratch.
I love good, fresh, wholesome food but I also like simplicity and saving pennies where I can.
I also hate spending hours and hours in the kitchen and I’ll share some of my time-saving tips here too.

Hi there!
Well done you for taking the plunge and setting up this blog! I’ll be reading with interest because I’m in dire need of some family cooking recipes because I’ve become a bit ‘stuck in a rut’. Doesn’t help that I have an insomniac 23 month old who has left me at the brink of exhaustion so the batch cooking recipes will be right up my alley!
Good luck and I’ll be here reading.x
